Oenopalindromic complexity
funny, wine, writing April 11th, 2007This is the back label text from the 3-Rings Shiraz that we had for dinner tonight. Enjoy.
A donkey could make good wine from the Barossa grapes that go into 3-Rings Shiraz. But in the hands of a magician like Chris Ringland, you get much, much more. Oenopalindromic complexity. This rich, dark and lavish wine has all the complexity of a palindrome. Unfortunately, the palindrome is “Ass, or a Barossa?†But why choose? This perplexing, tri-ringular flavour circus goes well with anything (or anyone) you bring to the table. Or take home for a snack. South Australian winemaker Chris Ringland, grower David Hickinbotham and importer Dan Philips have conjured a mystical nectar with hints of Famolares â„¢ , first love and pleather. More prosaic tongues find blueberries, cream and spice (yet not, oddly, grapes).â€You’ll need many lengthy tastings to denote all the tones, so you’d better get started.

That’s horrible. It’s a good thing you didn’t read it before you bought it.

tony,
the truth is that if herb had read the back of the bottle before he bought it, he would have brought home an entire case! this “tech writing” took the stage in our dinner conversation for more than a minute or two!

are you working or just changing your blog wallpaper and the color of your fonts?

I attempting to create a tri-ringular eye-candy circus for all blog visitors. So yeah, mainly wallpaper and font changes.

Herb, with a label as pretentious as that, it had better be good with Brother’s BBQ.
The back of my wine bottle would read something like this tonight: As moonbeams reflect softly the rolling sea foam–creepy gently up the shore and receding into quietude–a tranquility interrupted only by the cat’s rigorous licking of her butt.
I’m glad I’m not an oenologist; it would require a fastidiousness with not only the fruit of the vine, but the precision and wit of an accomplished wordslinger. Quod erat demonstratum.

Glad to catch this dialogue tonight as I drink a bottle of this wine with a friend… had to know more about ‘Oenopalindromic complexity’… Thanks! BTW, this blog came up as #3 on Google.

lol a couple of of the opinions most people submit are a little out there, over and over i wonder if they honestly read the articles and reviews and threads before writing or whether or not they only look at the title of the blog post and craft the first idea that drifts into their minds. anyway, it is really relaxing to look over sensible commentary every now and then instead of the identical, outdated oppinion vomit which i mostly discover on the net i’m going to enjoy a few rounds of facebook poker good bye
